Sheila Groom School of Dance is committed to protecting your personal information in accordance with the Data Protection Act 1998 and the General Data Protection Regulations (GDPR) which came into force from May 2018.

We are committed to providing a safe environment for all our members and everybody who comes into contact with us, both physically and virtually (online) or via application forms, telephone, letters, email exchange or correspondence.

Whenever you provide such information, we are legally obliged to use your information in line with current legislation concerning the protection of personal information.

 

Members of the Dance School

We collect contact details, membership details, qualification details in order to provide dance school services and to conduct dance examinations as affiliated to professionally recognised organisations, including the IDTA (International Dance Teacher’s Association) and the NATD (National Association of Teachers of Dancing). In addition, we conduct barring service checks and monitoring where required for dance teachers and teaching assistants.

 

What information do we hold on school members?

We may collect and store personal information about you. This can consist of information such as your name, postal address, telephone or mobile number, date of birth, lessons and examination records, payment records and application details. By submitting your details, we assume consent to use it for administrative purposes to enable Sheila Groom School of Dance to provide you with our services and examinations that you have selected.

 

Young Users

If you are aged 18 years or under and you provide us with information on an application form, your parent(s)/guardian(s) permission will be required.

 

How long with Sheila Groom School of Dance keep my personal information?

We will keep the information we hold about our customers and members as long as is necessary to deliver the dance services we provide you with.

 

Where is the information stored?

We store all personal information in paper form in a secure location at the dance school in private property and are maintained securely as private and confidential at all times. No personal information is stored electronically on the internet.

The security measures described above ensure all reasonable steps are taken to protect dance school members and customer personal information.

Data Sharing

Sheila Groom School of Dance only shares relevant information with the NATD and IDTA to administer the taking of dance examinations, receiving results and the issuing of certificates to successful candidates.
